FALL FOURTEEN: FAVORITES ROUND I

joan smalls stella mccartney fall 2014
STELLA MCCARTNEY FALL 2014
CARA DELEVIGNE JOAN SMALLS STELLA MCCARTNEY FALL 2014

LOVING Stella fall. The vibe is so free and positive, and the fresh face, no-make-up look is SO good. Obsessed with an oversized. man-cut navy suit right now and she sent two beauties down her runway. Never really one for a sweater dress but after seeing her version I'm IN.

BALMAIN FALL 2014

BALMAIN FALL 2014 DETAILS

I. mean.
This collection speaks to every aspirational dressing dream I think I've ever had. The leather. The baggy pants. Oversized jacket HEAVEN + a power shoulder. Chile...

HAIDER ACKERMANN FALL 2014
HAIDER ACKERMANN FALL 2014
HAIDER ACKERMANN FALL 2014 DETAILS

Haider never fails as one of my favorites every gotdamn season. The effortless, simple layers of neutral textures he showed for fall were everything. The crazy good baggy trousers, to the snakeskin leather skinny pant + the sweatpant/bootie combo can not go without mention. This is the most interesting woman in the room.

RICK OWENS FALL 2014
This collection was so Rick.
These are clothes that empower. Owens makes clothes that feel good. The Rick woman is no-fuss - sure, confident and strong.

MY TRAP(SIS)TAR : THE BEAT OF URBAN ART

After all her hard werk, my sister's first collection made its debut tore the runway down this weekend at her senior fashion show. 'The Beat of Urban Art' by Angela LoMedico brought the audience to life with a standing ovation and a no-competition, no-brainer first place award. Inspired by the beginning of hip-hop and New York street art; her pieces powerfully portray the emotion and energy of NYC culture, and the physical edge and toughness of it's streets.

Each look mastered a high-street relationship between textured fabrics, strong shoulders and clean lines.  Athletic inspired sportswear in bold metropolitan tones + striking neon accents freshly reflected the City's energy, grit + ambition. In a collection that may have otherwise been too left-field for most of the audience and judges, her construction was the obvious champion that proved too explicit to ignore.

Jay Z's 'Death of Autotune' made it the perfectly paired audio/visual experience as the models stormed the runway, finished in snapbacks, tube socks and headphones. To say that she lived and breathed this collection over the past 12 months is as clear as each line, cut and fit. My girl is good.

CERFIFIED

bra·va·do noun \brə-ˈvä-(ˌ)dō\
a : blustering swaggering conduct b : A bold manner or a show of boldness; a pretense of bravery

After reading her interview in Vogue's The Editor's Eye... Eye have been completely obsessed + inspired by the spirit + personality that is Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele. A real tastemaker; fearless yet effortless; youth and energy. Former Fashion Editor and Editor at Large at Vogue, CCdD's "salade" was in-your-face fresh and different when the fashion world needed it most. In an industry that most times takes itself too seriously; when some view runway as the end-all and look 3 is plopped into the pages of magazines lifeless and uninspiring, Carlyne is the flavor, spice, the hot haute sauce. Upbeat, funky, big; this woman does not give a fck what you think,
and it shows in everything she does.

From Vogue's, The Editor's Eye
"Everyone tells me, "Carlyne, I don't even have to see your name on the page , I know it's you." I mean, it's my Cerf Style, the mix, my mix. I never take clothes of designers, like runway look number five of whoever, and shoot just that. I always do my own salade. I have always done it, that's what I am known for. I was the first to mix a Chanel jacket with jeans. Cheap and expensive, I don't care. Chic is not because you have money. You are entirely dressed in I-don't-know-what and that means you are chic? Non! For personal chic, you need to mix your own shit and make it happen. I love to do gold with shit, you know? It's my thing. Gold with shit. J'adore ça. Me, my favorite thing in the world is Adidas, but I wear it with diamonds or a pave Rolex. That for me is what chic is. La simplicité."
